Food Drive for Elementary & Middle Schools
Kids Kan is canceled for 2021. Mid-South Food Bank has made this decision due to COVID-19 and a large portion of schools utilizing virtual learning. We would love to work with schools that still want to hold independent food drives this spring.
You can find more information below on how to register your drive along with online options to collect food and funds virtually.
Food is then distributed to Mid-South Food Bank's network of nearly 300 charitable feeding programs in west Tennessee, north Mississippi and east Arkansas. Funds are used to purchase high nutrition value foods for distribution. Right now, nearly 398,000 people struggle with food insecurity and hunger in the Mid-South; 27% of them are children.
How to collect food and funds:
Mid-South Food Bank wants to make sure your students can participate at school or in a virtual classroom. We have two new ways to collect food and monetary donations online.
Online Donation Page - Each school will recieve an custom online donation link that can be shared with parents, familiy members, and friends. The donation page will have the name of the school on the page. All donations made through this page will go towards the school's campaign, and the funds go directly to the Food Bank. Please allow 2-3 business days after registration to recieve your online donaiton page. Classrooms will need to keep track of individual donations to count towards the homeroom's total donations.
YouGiveGoods - YouGiveGoods is an online food drive platform that's similar to online shopping. Donors select a type canned good, select an amount they would like to donate, and pay for the items. This takes place all on the school's YouGiveGoods page. A link to this page can be shared with parents, family members, and friends. To see an example of a YouGiveGoods page, click here. YouGiveGoods and Mid-South Food Bank can assist you with setting up your page to include individual grades or classrooms. We will need a minimum of one week to setup this page before your drive begins.
Traditional Food Drive
If your students are in the school building, you can hold your traditional food and funds drive events just like in years past. Now you have the added bonus to include an online donation page and food donation page. Those can be shared with students' families and friends.
