Mid-South Food Bank was founded in November 1981 as a MIFA program. The following year we became a member of Feeding America, the national network of food banks. In 1988, we became an independent 501(c)(3) charity, with more than 100 Partner Agencies and a service area that included west Tennessee, North Mississippi, and East Arkansas.

Over the years, we continued to grow serving over 250,000 food insecure individuals a year. Mid-South Food Bank currently distributes an average of 4 million meals a month through a network of 300 partner agencies in 12 counties in West Tennessee, 18 counties in north Mississippi, and one county in Arkansas.
