Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Mid-South Food Bank is continually working towards becoming an organization that is reflective of the demographics of the areas we serve. We commit to celebrating diversity, ensuring inclusion, and prioritizing equity in our internal and external work. We believe diversity, inclusion, and equity are essential to our ability to serve our partner agencies and our clients well.

We also believe that we must ensure that we hire diverse candidates and give them the tools they need to both excel and succeed. Additionally, we believe we must build an inclusive organization by these critical elements: how we talk to each other and about our work, how we make decisions, how we run meetings, and how we solicit and weigh feedback and ideas. We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone’s voice is heard and respected and team members are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work every day.

Mid-South Food Bank holds those living with food insecurity and hunger at the center of all our actions and decisions. When we state our Mission is to Change Lives by Eliminating Hunger in the Mid-South, we mean we are committed to providing opportunities for anyone in need to access nutritious food that is varied and embraces different cultures.

We recognize the existence of injustices that can create and perpetuate conditions that sustain poverty and hunger. We are dedicated to serving marginalized communities, both urban and rural, in ways that value the culture and experiences of the people who live there, and to respond where bias and inequities appear. The goal of our food programs and advocacy efforts is to help people thrive and to feed the need while working together to overcome the obstacles that can divide us.
